Hywel Ball is Managing Partner, Assurance, UK & Ireland, UK Head of Audit and UK LLP board member and EY. He has been with EY for over 30 years, 20 of those as Partner. During his time at EY, he has worked in London, New York and Edinburgh, providing services for clients across a range of sectors, including many FTSE 100 companies. Mr Ball has also been a key player in transforming EY’s UK Assurance practice.
Before taking up his current role as Managing Partner for Assurance and Head of Audit, UK, Mr Ball was the firm’s Industry Leader for the Energy and Utilities sector for EMEIA and Chairman of the firm in Scotland. He was a board member of Scottish Financial Enterprise for six years.
Mr Ball is the lead partner on the audit of CRH, a Dublin based $30bn market capitalisation global construction business. His client experience includes leading on the audits of Amec Foster Wheeler, Weir, Scottish Power, Scottish & Newcastle, BP Exploration and Cairn Energy. He has also been the firm’s Client Service Partner on the following clients, Standard Life, BG, Scottish & Southern Energy, United Utilities and First Group.
Mr ball has been the architect behind developing a new framework for companies to report long term, enabling greater trust in society. This initiative has led to a global project to work on a proof of concept, for companies to create and articulate their long term equity story to their customers, employees, communities, and shareholders.
Mr Ball is a member of the Audit Committee of The British Museum.
Mr Ball holds a degree in Engineering from Imperial College London and is a qualified Chartered Accountant.
