Mr Jin Liqun is currently Chairman of China International Capital Corporation. He is also Head of the Working Group for Establishing Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, Ministry of inance and the former Vice Minister of Finance. Mr Jin was Chairman of the Supervisory Board, China Investment Corporation and Central Huijing Investment Corporation from 2008 to 2013. From 2003 to 2008, r Jin was the Vice-President of Asian Development Bank (ADB) in charge of operations for South Asia, Central and West Asia, and the private sector operations.
Mr Jin joined China’s Ministry of Finance in 1980. He was promoted to be Deputy Director in 1985 and was made Deputy Director General in 1988 of External Finance Department. In 1988, he was elected as lternative Executive Director for China at the World Bank. He became Director General, Department of the Ministry of Finance in 1995. In the same year, he was promoted to be Assistant Minister of Finance and in 1998 became Vice Minister of Finance. Whilst in this position he also served as Alternate Governor for the PRC at ADB, the World Bank Group and the Global Environment Facility from 1998 through 2003.
Since the Asian financial crisis in 1997 he has worked on a number of bilateral and multilateral economic and financial forums, such as the China-US Joint Economic Committee, China-UK Economic and Finance Dialogue, APEC Finance Ministers’ Meeting, ASEAN Plus Three and G-20. In addition, Mr Jin was a member of the State Monetary Policy Committee the PRC.
Mr Jin holds an MA degree in English Literature from Beijing Institute of Foreign Languages. He was also a Hubert Humphrey Fellow in the Economics Graduate Program at Boston University rom 1987 to 1988.
